How to enter Gigs
You must register to the site before you can enter any gigs in the calendar. Simply click on "register" at the bottom of the Login box on the left of the site. Enter the required info and click the "Register" button. You will receive a verification email to activate your membership.
Please read the info below BEFORE you post your first gig. It is very important in order to have consistency in how the gigs are posted.
PLEASE CHECK THE CALENDAR FIRST TO SEE IF YOUR GIG HAS ALREADY BEEN ENTERED.
PLEASE NOTE: the calendar uses a 24-hour clock when entering gig info. For example, if your gig starts at 9:30 and ends at midnight, you must enter 21:30 as the start time and 24:00 as your end time.
When you are logged in and on the home page, you will see small icons at the top right of the calendar section. The first icon
is to submit a new event.
Click on the "Submit New Event"
icon or click the "SUBMIT GIG" in the menu on the left.
Details:
Title - enter the name of the event. Please only enter the name of the performer or the name of the event.
ie: John Smith or Summertime Blues Matinee NOT John Smith at Blues Venue.
DO NOT use ALL CAPITAL letters. Any info that is incorrectly entered will be edited.
Venue - Be sure to check if the venue is already in the database first. Click the "select venue" button to choose from venues already entered in the database. A pop-up window will open. The filter allows you to filter on the venue name or on the city. To quickly find the venue you can enter part of the name in the filter area or change the filter to city and enter the city name. Click on the venue to select it (there is currently a glitch in this search function where the highlight colour is black thus blacking out the text when you hover over it. This should be fixed soon).
Submit new venue - if the venue you want is not listed, click on "Submit new venue". Enter the Venue name, Street address, Postal Code (is required for map function to work), City, Province (use two-letter abbreviations), Country (use CA for Canada) and website address if applicable (use http:// before the address). Add a map link - default is yes - this enables visitors to see a map of the location of the venue.
Description - Please enter the phone number first. If you want to add any other info, place it on a new line after the phone number of the venue. HTML code is not permitted in this box.
Metadata Information - do not enter anything. Admin use only.
Click "Add Venue/City" button at the bottom or the "Save" button at the top.
Category - Select the province (this enables visitors to filter events on the province.
Date - click the icon on the left to select the date
Enddate - DO NOT ENTER AN END DATE especially if you are entering a recurring event as this will cause an error.
Time - YOU MUST USE THE 24-HOUR CLOCK FORMAT hh:mm ie: 6 pm is 18:00
Endtime - enter the ending time in 24-hour clock format. ie: 1 am is 01:00, midnight is 24:00
Repetition:
Only to be used for recurring gigs. If you are entering a one-time gig leave the default of "nothing". The most common are weekly or monthly.
Weekly - enter how often it repeats. If a weekly matinee, select 1 week. If every other week, select 2 week, etc.
Monthly - enter how often it repeats. If once a month, select 1 month.
Weekday - If, for example, the gig occurs the third Thursday of each month, select "weekday" for the repetition. Then select "3" after repeating every, and then select "Thursday". You have to ensure that your "Date" in the details section is on the appropriate day.
By the end of - If the matinee or recurring event has an end date, select it here. This stops the gig from being entered to infinity!
Description - enter details about the gig. If it is a matinee, enter the upcoming guests if applicable. Also enter any cover charge amount here.
Gigs and new venues may be edited if necessary by the site Admin.
